What is the Benefit Cap?

The benefit cap is a limit on the total amount of benefits a working age household can claim. Further information and what the limits are is available on Cardiff.gov.uk.

If your Housing Benefit or Universal Credit claim has been reduced because of the cap we can help you. We will check that the cap has been correctly applied, or whether you should be exempt.

If the cap does apply, we will help you manage your money and see if you are eligible for extra help, called Discretionary Housing Payments.
